What is Michaels CARES?
Michaels CARES is a non profit organization which is Established for offering financial assistance to the Michaels employees.
The program is meant to provide short term financial help to team members facing unexpected challenges.
The challenges such as life threatening illnesses, natural disasters or the destruction of a primary residence.
This initiative reinforces the company’s commitment to its employees which is offering a lifeline when they need it most.
Michaels Cares Program Eligibility
- One of the great things about Michaels CARES is that it is inclusive.
- All employees of The Michaels Companies including its subsidiaries and affiliates are eligible to apply means it covers all the staff members.
- This extends to parttime, temporary or seasonal workers.
- The Employees of third party contractors who are working on the behalf of the Michaels Companies are not eligible.
When Michaels CARE Can Help?
It can help with the following situations:
- Death of a team member or close family member
- Critical illness or injury of a team member or close family member
- Destruction or severe damage to a primary residence
- Forced evacuation from a primary residence
- Foreclosure or eviction
- Homelessness
- Transportation issues due to theft or car accident
What Michaels CARES Doesn’t Cover?
While the program is incredibly helpful, there are certain situations where Michaels CARES will not provide assistance.
These include:
Damage or destruction to non-primary residences.
Vehicle repairs, payments, or insurance-related expenses.
Situations where life insurance payouts exceed $20,000.
Personal disputes like divorce or child support issues, unless accompanied by a police report.
It may be able to provide a fast grant if a team member has experienced a mandatory or voluntary evacuation from their home, power loss, or damage to their primary residence.
Grants can be used for things like hotel stays, clothing, toiletries, diapers, baby formula, and plane or bus tickets.
To apply for a grant, team members can contact their SM, DM, or HR Partner.
They will need to provide information about the situation and its financial impact.
